The Master of Learning Sciences and Technology is designed to give you unparalleled insight into the design, management and research of technology-supported learning.



The professional pathway will appeal to you if you're looking to work as a learning and development manager, an instructional designer, a multimedia learning designer or a learning strategist.



The faculty’s Centre for Research on Computer-Supported Learning and Cognition (the CoCo Research Centre) offers specialised technologies and facilities, including a combination of virtual and physical spaces equipped with the latest learning technology.



You’ll gain knowledge of the latest theories of learning and learning design, as well as an overview of established and emerging learning technologies. You’ll also develop competencies in planning for change, systems thinking, designing for technology-rich learning and methods of measuring learning and collaboration.

Course programme

Candidates are required to complete a total of 48 credit points (cp), including: 30 cp (5 units of study) of core units; 12 cp (2 unit of study) of capstone units; and remainder of elective units from the Learning Sciences and Technology (Professional) Units of Study Table.


Progression rules

Under normal progression, a full-time student completes prescribed units of study to the value of 24 credit points per semester. Part-time students may undertake prescribed units of study up to the value of 12 credit points per semester. Students are required to attend all lectures, tutorials and other activities prescribed for their units of study.

Capstone experience

A capstone unit is completed in the final semester of enrolment. It provides an opportunity to integrate ideas and understandings drawn from units of study taken in the course. The capstone is a compulsory requirement and is undertaken by completing a special project (12 credit points; 12,000 words).
