Course programme

Programme structure

The programme consists of four courses of 15 ECTS credits each and a master´s thesis of 60 credits. You are expected to fulfil the programme´s course requirements in the first year and complete the thesis in the second. The programme courses are designed to focus on selected topics in Nordic (i.e. Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Icelandic, and Faroese) languages and literature. The main focus is on Norwegian in most courses. There are certain requirements to the combination of courses and types of exams, but it is possible to choose only literary or only linguistic courses as well as a combination thereof.

The language of instruction is normally Norwegian, but Danish and Swedish may also be used. The language of examination is Norwegian, and you are required to master both forms of written Norwegian, i.e. Bokmål and Nynorsk.
