Our curriculum targets people who are passionate about sport, and who wish to develop a professional career in this field. It is specially conceived for people whose professional sports career has not allowed them to obtain further education, but wish to acquire the tools to stay involved with sport when it is over, such as sportspeople, former sportspeople, and trainers. It is also conceived for sport managers and professionals working for private or public sports enterprises who wish to expand their knowledge, acquire new tools, and improve their efficiency.
This curriculum gives students the necessary resources to interact with the community, and to be a part of the international network of Johan Cruyff Institute for Sports Studies, encouraging the exchange of experience, ideas, and knowledge between students.
Goals
e-MISM's curriculum is focused towards the sports industry and is taught through the Online Campus of Johan Cruyff Institute for Sport Studies. Its purpose is to give students the tools and skills necessary to master in all fields of sports management, without time or location constraints. At the beginning of the programme, students and their tutors will define the specific Tutorial Action Plan (PAT) to suit every participant's personal circumstances and availability.
e-MISM uses the latest technology and materials. It is a fundamental tool for sports managers' educational progress.
Students who complete the programme will be well prepared to engage in a wide range of sports-related businesses. Some of the options are: managing a business, an entity or a sports organization, becoming a club or facility director; or becoming an entrepreneur.
Syllabus
e-MISM syllabus is divided into an introduction as well as and six modules covering the key aspects of sport management. Each module has a specific number of units (UD), each one has a continuous evaluation test (PAC), part of which is an interactive theory section (videos, guest speaker presentations, links to different websites) that is complemented by a problem-solving and exercise resolution.
At the end of each UD/Module, students will hand in the lesson's PAC. The final project consists of elaborating a Business Plan that students and their respective tutors-coordinators have been working on through the academic year, using their own blog. The presentation is given at the end of the programme, either by teleconference or on-site at the Johan Cruyff Institute for Sport Studies premises.
As an e-MISM participant, you may also attend specific seminars, and make professional visits to sports organizations, clubs, and facilities. These will be carried out as part of MISM's in-class version. You may also attend your official Graduation ceremony at the Institute.
