By deepening your understanding and knowledge of mathematics, the human body, and how mathematics connects with physical applications you’ll be better positioned to build a career in this exciting industry.
Our Mathematics and Sport Science BSc (Hons) course is a joint honours degree, which is equally divided between maths and sport science – two very exciting subject areas. It’s run in collaboration with the internationally renowned School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences, which is currently ranked 1st in Europe in the ARWU.

The aim of this module is to develop the students’ understanding of the structure, function and homeostatic regulation of the human body with reference to integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, urinary, immune, endocrine and reproductive systems.

The aims of this module are: to introduce basic ideas of differentiation and integration in several variables and differential equations; to illustrate some of the connections between differential calculus and applications.

Areas studied include analysis, probability theory, mathematical methods, biomechanics, and physiology.

Physiology of Exercise and Training Core

Physiology of Exercise and Training

The aim of this module is to further students’ understanding of the acute physiological responses to exercise and chronic physiological adaptations to exercise and training in humans and how these responses are regulated together with the influence of environmental factors and fatigue on physiological processes. A further aim is to develop students’ practical laboratory/experimental skills in human and exercise physiology.
