Our Certificate of Higher Education in Mathematics is ideal if you want to study mathematics at university level but do not want to commit to a full BSc Mathematics programme yet. This flexible evening study programme will develop your knowledge and understanding of mathematical and statistical techniques. You will learn how to solve problems logically and analytically, and improve your quantitative and computing skills. The course will not only expand your general knowledge of mathematics, but also enable you to explore the areas that interest you the most.

About this course
Graduates can pursue careers in business and finance, statistics and analysis, or education. This programme can also be useful in becoming an actuary, operational researcher, mathematical research scientist, secondary school teacher or statistician.

Course programme
You complete four modules: two core modules and two option modules chosen from the BSc Mathematics.
The first year is devoted to algebra and calculus. In the second year, you choose your option modules according to your particular areas of interest.
If you successfully complete the Certificate of Higher Education, you will be able to proceed straight onto Year 2 of our BSc Mathematics, or BSc Mathematics with Statistics.
