Course programme

Course detail Description

The Mathematics Graduate Diploma is a highly flexible academic course that offers you the opportunity to customise your module choices to reflect your study interests.

You must take modules totalling 120 credits to complete the course. If you are studying full- time, you will complete the course in one year, from September to June. If you are studying part- time, your course will take two years to complete.

You will attend eight of the modules currently offered on the undergraduate mathematics course. This may include a limited number of modules taught in other London colleges and modules from the Financial Mathematics course, subject to approval.

Course format and assessment

Teaching

We use lectures and group tutorials to deliver most of the modules on the course. You will also be expected to undertake a significant amount of independent study.

You are expected to spend approximately 10 hours work per credit for each module you attend in your degree, e.g. 150 hours work for a 15 credit module. These hours cover every aspect of the module: lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, independent study, coursework and preparation for examinations.

Assessment

The primary method of assessment for this course is written examinations. You may also be assessed by class tests, essays, assessment reports and oral presentations. The nature of assessment varies by module.
