Course programme

Course detail Description

The course is designed for students who want to study mathematics at degree level, but who also plan to work in a managerial role, especially in the financial sector. The mathematical part of the course will give you a foundation in all branches of mathematics, including algebra, analysis, statistics, geometry, probability and number theory. As you progress through the course you will focus more on topics which are specifically relevant to financial mathematics.

About a quarter of this course focuses on management topics, including accounting, communication, marketing, economics, and human resource management. During your course you will have the opportunity to specialise in various areas by choosing specific modules.

Teaching

You are expected to spend approximately 10 hours work per credit for each module you attend in your degree, e.g. 150 hours work for a 15 credit module. These hours cover every aspect of the module: lectures, tutorials, independent study, coursework and preparation for examinations.

King’s Business School will teach your management modules. It fosters an interdisciplinary, social science ethos with a highly stimulating intellectual environment that attracts leading scholars.

Assessment

The primary method of assessment for this degree is written examination. You may also be assessed by essays, practical examination, oral presentation, reports, class tests and projects. The nature of assessment varies by module.
