About this course

You cannot have previously achieved an A-C grade (level 4 or higher) at GCSE maths.



You should be confident with your basic maths skills and ideally have recent experience of studying maths, although this is not essential. The entry requirement for the course is the successful completion of an assessment (duration one hour) which will test whether you have the appropriate maths skills to be successful on the course. Test dates are 2nd July, 9th July, 31st August and 6th September. You must attend one of these dates.

Year 1

GCSE maths helps develop knowledge and understanding of problem-solving, mathematical reasoning, applying maths in context and the functional elements of maths.
The main components are number, algebra, geometry and measure, probability and statistics. Please see the specification for AQA GCSE maths for further detail.
When you enrol, we will provide you with details of the equipment and books you will need to buy.

Additional information

There are three 1 1/2 hour papers: two calculator papers and one non-calculator paper. These will be in late May and early June on dates set nationally and will be held at Abbey Park Campus.
