2. Course description Summary: This course is an excellent choice if you want a career in mechanical engineering and prefer a practical alternative to A levels. Course description: This course will develop your knowledge of the core engineering subjects, as well as giving you the chance to specialise in mechanical engineering. You will learn how engineering businesses operate and the factors that affect them and the wider industry. You will also have the chance to develop and apply the use of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) in a range of engineering projects. Units include: - Health and safety - Communications for technicians - Project - Mathematics for engineering technician - Mechanical principles Students will achieve a Diploma after successfully completing year 1 and will have the possibility to progress to an Extended Diploma in year 2. Objective: This is an ideal course for you if you want to develop your engineering skills and explore your opportunities within this innovation-led industry. It is equivalent to two A Levels.
