Robotics is 'one of the UK's eight great technologies', as identified by the UK Government.
On this course, you have the opportunity to develop specific expertise in robotics alongside skills in mechanical engineering.
You’ll study in our £12-million Future Technologies Labs, dedicated to teaching and research in computing, robotics, electronics and mechatronics.
As a graduate, you’ll be ideally placed to develop or apply systems for robotics, automation, smart systems with autonomous capability, or ubiquitous and wearable computing.

PlacementIndustrial placement
We offer you the chance to take an industrial placement year as part of your course. The industrial placement provides you with the opportunity to spend a year working in industry, in an area relevant to your course, and to receive a salary.
Your time in industry develops your technical, team-working and transferable skills as you apply what you have learned in your studies to a business environment.
A year in industry is a proven way to fast-track your career and both the Department of Engineering and Design and the University’s Careers and Employability Centre provide you with dedicated placement support. This includes guided preparation early in your course to help you find, secure and succeed in your placement.
Many students who undertake an industrial placement perform better academically on their return to their course and are more likely to secure employment as a direct result of their year in industry.
