NVQ Level 2

What's it all about?:
This qualification is ideally suited to both the experienced operator looking for a formal qualification, recognising your expertise, or someone new to the role who is following a training programme in manufacturing operation. Manufacturing mechanical engineering can usually be easily matched to acompany training programme.

To achieve the full award, you must complete the mandatory units and meet the requirements for your chosen pathway.

Progression:
Upon successful completion you may progress to an appropriate level 3 course at the College.

Entry Requirements:
In our experience in order to be successful on this level of course you will need one of the following:

· four GCSEs at grades D-F (including English and maths)

· a BTEC foundation diploma in a related subject

· an NVQ level 1/technical certificate in a related subject

· successful completion of the Jumpstart programme

· successful completion of the E2E/Prince's Trust programme

· equivalent qualifications or relevant work experience.

Duration: Six to nine months

Course Overview
What does the course involve?:

Mandatory units
- Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements.

- Using and interpreting engineering data and documentation.

- Working efficiently and effectively in engineering.

There are five pathways that may be pursued depending upon the jobs that you perform (one to be chosen from the following).
  • Machine operating pathway.
  • NC/CNC machine operating pathway.
  • Production assembly pathway.
  • Composite manufacture pathway.
  • Optical ngineering pathway.

Various days and times - delivered in the workplace

Are there any exams?:
You will need to collect a variety of evidence such as statements, observations and testimonies to build a portfolio. All of this will be under the guidance of an assessor. Once the criteria for each unit have been met, the unit will be signed off as competent.
