Media BTEC First Diploma Entry Requirements

• A range of GCSEs at D or above including English and preferably Maths or equivalent OR
• A BTEC Introductory Diploma in Art, Design and Media with a satisfactory reference and equivalent literacy and preferably numeracy OR
• A relevant equivalent Level 1 qualification with equivalent literacy and numeracy.

Content
The First Diploma comprises of three core (compulsory) units;

• Introduction to Media Industries
• Research for Media
• Introduction to Media Audiences and Products

Plus four specialist units:

• Video Production
• Advertising Production
• Writing for the Media
• A Media Production Project

Key Skills will also form part of your final qualification.

Assessment All units are assessed via assignments, which are set either internally by the college or externally by the awarding body, BTEC. Progression Succesful completion of this course will prepare students for entry into employment in the media sector or enable progression on to a Level 3 National Award/ Certificate/ Diploma course in Media, Graphic Design, Performance or Photography.
