You will unite knowledge, hands-on learning and problem solving capabilities to provide new solutions and practices in areas such as health-care; medical and business organizations; enterprises engaged in the application of physics and technology; biomedical research and development; radiation exposure testing; cancer diagnosis, treatment and management services. You may work as a cardiac sonographer, MRI technologist, radiation protection surveyor, or registered technologist in nuclear medicine (RTNM). You may also choose to pursue graduate studies (MSc and PhD) in medical/health physics or related areas or a professional degree program in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, business, law or education.

About this course
Medical Physics explores the ways in which physics is applied in the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses. You’ll learn to apply physics-based concepts and methodologies to procedures such as medical imaging, radiation therapy, radiation protection and dosimetry. You will complete a thesis project and can pursue an optional paid co-op, benefitting from Ryerson’s close academic connection to hospitals. You’ll graduate with the knowledge, experience and problem-solving capabilities to provide solutions in areas related to health care.
Typically, a minimum overall average of 70% establishes eligibility for admission consideration; subject to competition individual programs may require higher prerequisite grades and/or higher overall averages:
