About the course We understand how difficult it can be for busy professionals to develop their knowledge and expertise, and this course recognises this fact. Each unit combines two or five study days which provide opportunities to engage in a real-life clinical environment and work-related development activities. Over a three month period, our experienced and supportive course team will help you develop a critical, analytic and reflective stance towards medical and healthcare education, with a particular focus on the use of simulation. Course programme
- Study the thinking behind the use of simulation and the ways in which its educational use can be enhanced
- Explore and rehearse approaches to the use of medical and clinical simulation in our state-of-the-art simulation centre, and tailor assessments inline with professional interests and needs
- Develop the skills to independently evaluate relevant research, scholarship and practice, and deal with the complexities, contradictions and gaps in the current evidence base
- Gain a purposeful and professional approach to the design and facilitation of simulated learning scenarios, including an awareness of personal responsibility and professional codes of conduct
- Benefit from a systematic understanding of the wide range of learning, teaching and assessment methods that may be used in simulated settings, and learn now to selectively and effectively use these in your practice.
