Overview At a glance This is a pre-apprenticeship program, offering excellent entry level qualification for those wanting to enter the Engineering field. Successful completion of this program will give you direct and indirect skills associated with apprenticeship trades relevant to the engineering industry. Topics covered include: basic welding, basic fabrication, heating and cutting and use of basic workshop equipment. This qualification is designed to give you employability skills including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, initiative and enterprise, planning and organising, self-management and hands on skills relevant to the industry. Application Mode On-campus Courses/Units Four (4) Core units and also Elective units totaling 24 points. Availability CQUniversity Rockhampton, City,  DurationCommencing 17 February 2016; (8am - 5pm) three (3) days a week for 17 weeks. Intake Dates There is one intake for this course; next course will commence in February 2016. Hours of Study Approximately 340 hours of study time will be involved however, the training duration may vary slightly across locations. Students will be required to undertake self- directed study and assignments outside Campus attendance time.
