Postgraduate (part-time)

Gain significant recognition in your field whilst continuing to work in your own team, with our course for health and social care staff aiming to become Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHPs).

Our course combines practice and theory to offer you the most effective learning experience. With the support from your employer, you will be placed in your local AMHP duty team. You will study in university over two semesters from September 2016 to May 2017 and you will also be able to work two to three days per week in your own team.

You will learn from a variety of professionals, ranging from expert practitioners and service users to law professional trainers and psychiatric staff. You will also be encouraged to visit services, such as Older People wards or Child and Adolescent Mental Health, to gain further experience in clinical practice.

Before starting the course a meeting will be arranged between you and your sponsoring manager and we will put together a learning programme that best suits you and your team. You will be expected to attend a five day pre-AMHP course in July.
