Course Objectives
The course is designed to lead delegates through the basic principles of databases. Most of the principles will apply to any database environment, so delegates should feel comfortable using the terminology in conversation.
By the end of this course you will have learned
- How to create, format and import tablesto understand primary keys and their uses
- What a relationship is, and the reasons for creating relationships; how to design and run queries, specify criteria, use wildcards and run parameter queries
- How to calculate in queries
- Discover what forms are, benefits of their use and how they are designed
- Use of add/delete controls, add option, toggle and check boxes, and add command buttons
- How to design a report, change the design of the report, add bound, unbound and calculated controls, change the format and use the label wizard

People who want to understand what databases are, and how they can be used should join this course. It is particularly suitable for people who have little or no knowledge of the understanding of relational databases, and who want to develop small database applications.
Pre-requisites
No prior knowledge of databases is needed, but familiarity with other PC applications is essential.

- Relationships - Building relationships; understanding and using primary keys
- Queries - Designing queries; specifying criteria; using and/or queries; parameter queries; calculating in queries
- Tables - Designing tables and formatting tables; finding and filtering data; importing, linking and exporting tables; data types and field properties
- Forms - Creating forms; formatting and editing form design; working with form controls
- Reports - Creating and editing reports; adding graphics to reports
