As a new user, with little or no experience of Excel, the topics covered on this course will empower you with the skills required to design and produce basic spreadsheets.
PrerequisitesIt is assumed only that you have a basic knowledge and understanding of the Windows environment.
Course ContentIntroducing Excel
An overview of the benefits of spreadsheets, the basic spreadsheet structure and a tour of the Excel screen
Document Basics
Data entry and editing, using UNDO, auto-fill, basic formulae and functions including auto-sum and getting HELP.
Saving & Retrieving
Securing your work, saving and retrieving files, organising work directories, removing old or unwanted files.
Formatting
Working with ranges, changing font style and size, aligning, bordering, shading, setting row and column heights.
Re-arranging
Using cut, copy and paste, drag and drop, deleting and clearing ranges.
Printing
Previewing work, changing the page set-up, page numbering, headers and footers, Selecting ranges to print.
Calculations
Basic Excel functions including Sum and Average, using the Function Wizard, Relative and absolute cell referencing in formulae.
Charts and Graphs
Using the Chart Wizard, creating and editing bar charts, pie charts and line
graphs.
Additional
These will be covered as required if and when you are comfortable with the core elements of the course, these include: Data analysis with the Pivot Table, conditional functions, statistical functions, Excel databases and an introduction to Macros.
