About this course

After the successful completion of the module, you will be able
to implement applications that use dialogs, menus, user preferences, background services, SQLite database, Google Maps and other location services, web services, phone and SMS features.

Students

Basic knowledge of programming concepts in any of the programming languages, online application form: https://www.algebra.hr/international-school/summer-school/application/

6 ECTS points and the official certificate issued by Algebra University College, an accredited higher education institution in the Republic of Croatia.
International students can earn an additional 4 ECTS points for the free Croatian Language and Culture module.

The module is performed in the Java programming language and is carried out in an Android Studio integrated development environment using the Android emulator.
International students can also enroll in the free additional Croatian Language and Culture module where they will students learn the very basics of Croatian and get an excellent insight into the Croatian culture.
Students will also participate in Company Visits - exclusive guest lectures hosted by leading global industry players. Our guest lecturers are top business professionals who provide an exclusive insight into corporate management and business culture as well as as offer priceless business advice that students can later apply in forging their own careers.

Course programme

The use of mobile technology is an opportunity to expand customer relationships. Your cellphone is always on, always at hand and knows where you are. Mobile phones are a useful tool that adds value. The industry of mobile applications definitely has a prosperous future. The module starts with the presentation of the Android architecture through Android Software Stack, basics of Android Operating System and a Virtual machine used in the emulator. Further, it is concentrated on basic components to implement scalable Android applications (Activity, Service, BroadCast Receiver, Content Provider and Intent). All the building blocks are covered in great detail with many examples and variations in layout presentations.
