This apprenticeship could see you working for a vehicle dealership or an independent garage that deals with the repair and maintenance of all types of vehicles. There are more than 32 million vehicles on the UK’s roads, which mean there are plenty of vacancies available across the sector. So if you like a challenge, enjoy having new problems to solve and have good communication skills so you can explain everything to the customer this could be the apprenticeship for you. You’ll be working in a service technician type role, carrying out routine maintenance and basic repairs, as well as identifying and reporting faults. This is a very hands-on apprenticeship that will also teach you how to use diagnostic equipment and could see you specialising in motorcycles, cars, heavy vehicles or vehicle electrical systems. This apprenticeship is aimed at learners who would like to become Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technicians.

Entry Requirements
Entry criteria varies depending on the framework that you are studying and the needs of the employer, however a good level of secondary education is expected and many employers expect you to have maths and English GCSE at a 4 (C) grade or above. Employers also look for skills like motivation, good interpersonal skills, good communication skills and a willingness to learn and will set their own specifications depending on the role.
