Level Two Certificate - Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Light Vehicle)
What's it all about?:
This is a great progression route from the level one course. It is a valued qualification that may help lead to employment, upon where the NVQ element can then be completed for whose wishing to become qualified technicians.This level two qualification covers the technical needs for today's motor vehicle repair industry, including the diagnosis of non-complex system faults. It provides essential knowledge for service technicians working on light vehicles (cars and vans) in all types of garages, dealerships and maintenance depots.
Progression:
Progress to the level three course (subject to numbers and approval) offered at the College.
Entry Requirements:

In our experience in order to be successful on this level of course you will need one of the following:
· four GCSEs at grades D-F (including English and maths)
· a BTEC foundation diploma in a related subject
· an NVQ level 1/technical certificate in a related subject
· successful completion of the Jumpstart programme
· successful completion of the E2E/Prince's Trust programme
· equivalent qualifications or relevant work experience.

Course Overview
What does the course involve?:
It is a learning programme which involves students studying both the theory and practical aspects of the following:
• carrying out routine vehicle maintenance
• removing and replacing: engine units and components
• electrical auxiliary units and components
• chassis units and components.
You will gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working in a garage.You will also receive on satisfactory completion, a City & Guilds 3267 Introductory Welding Certificate in Metal Arc Gas Shielded Welding. The element of theory involvd will enable you to answer the verbal questions on welding healthy and safety and your choosed welding process.
The course also includes:
- NOCN induction award
- NOCN level one in progression award/certificate
- one key skill to level one
- City & Guilds 3267 Introductory Welding Certificate (level one or level two).
When can I study?:
9.00am to 4.30pm, three days a week

Variety of practical tasks and assessments, online and paper exams
