Level Two This study programme offers a great progression route from level 1 motorsport and is a valued, nationally recognised qualification that will enhance your employment prospects in the industry. It covers the technical needs of today's motor vehicle repair industry, including the diagnosis of non-complex system faults. It provides essential knowledge for service technicians working on light vehicles (cars and vans) in all types of garages, dealerships and maintenance depots.

Course programme
On successful completion you may progress to:
- the Advanced Motortech Diploma or any other level 3 engineering course at the College
- an advanced Apprenticeship in light vehicle repair, or
- employment in the industry as, for example, a trainee technician. If you do go into employment you could complete the NVQ element of this diploma, adding value to your qualification.
This course involves studying both the theory and practical aspects of the following:
- carrying out routine vehicle maintenance
- removing and replacing engine units and components
- electrical auxiliary units and components
- chassis units and components.
You will gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working in a garage.
The course also includes:
- NOCN induction award
- NOCN level one in progression award/certificate
- one functional skill to level one.
Your individualised study programme will be made up of the following four areas:
- the qualification you are studying
- English and maths
- work experience
- other activities to develop your personal skills e.g. preparing you for employment, training or higher/further education.
