The principles outlined in Professional and Statutory Regulatory Body codes of conduct are integrated throughout the MSc Clinical Skin integrity and Wound Management but there are no specific accreditation requirements for this programme in the UK. However, the General Medical Council (GMC) sets the standards and requirements for the delivery of all stages of medical education and training in the UK, and this resonates well with other Health and Social Care regulatory bodies both in the UK and overseas. The MSc Clinical Skin Integrity and Wound Management is designed to ensure graduates meet the principles of professional practice as set out in the GMC document Good Medical Practice (GMC, 2013) and the Professional Standards for Practice and Behaviour for Nurses and Midwives (NMC 2015). Whilst not all clinicians on this programme are doctors or nurses practicing in the UK, it is essential that all keep up to date with developments in their field and maintain their professional skills and check local requirements to practice.
The MSc Clinical Skin integrity and Wound Management was successfully revalidated at a Periodic Review event in February 2016. During this curriculum review the panel commented that the teaching and learning strategies were student focused and encouraged independent learning and continuing professional development so that students would be equipped with the necessary core skills and attributes to practice competently and professionally in their practice environments.
