Course programme

Online course description

Due to open 2020

The University of Derby Online Learning is pleased to be introducing a new and contemporary Ergonomics (Human Factors) Masters programme which will be suited to practitioners from around the world and from a wide range of disciplines such as psychology, design, health and safety, healthcare, medicine and more.

The programme is being developed by subject matter experts in line with the evolving Ergonomics and Human Factors profession to ensure content meets the requirements for Ergonomists today and tomorrow.

The new programme is due to be accredited by the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF) in line with its core competencies. It will be a qualifying course, whereby graduates will be eligible for Graduate Membership of the CIEHF, the first step towards becoming a Registered Member and a Chartered Ergonomics and Human Factors Practitioner.

This masters level programme will offer three specialist pathways to choose from: Ergonomics (Human Factors), Ergonomics (Human Factors) in Healthcare, Ergonomics (Human Factors) and Behaviour Change.

The Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma exit awards mean that you will be able to opt for a shorter award to meet your professional requirements. In addition, there will be a range of standalone 20 credit modules which can be completed independently of the programme providing you with a Certificate of Credit to count towards your continuing professional development (CPD).

We are developing state of the art online learning tools including our very own virtual workplace environment designed around a hospital to bring your studies to life. There will also be a wealth of resources and study materials hosted in our virtual learning environment and full access to our cloud campus facilities. You'll engage with fellow students from around the world through digital cafes, forums and virtual workspaces to share ideas, experiences and insights and your academic team will bring their industry experience and research informed practice to the programme experience too.
