How is the programme taught?
We have developed a programme that is both contemporary and geared towards the realities of working as a modern manager.
You will be taught using a combination of lectures and small group sessions. The small group sessions in particular will have a strong emphasis on student-centered learning. This means many of the classes will include practical skills sessions to prepare you for the realities of working in a management role.
The standard ratio of lectures to small group sessions is 1:1, allowing for 90 minutes of lectures and 90 minutes of small group sessions in a typical week per 15 credit module. In addition further support is provided through the Business School's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
Emphasis is placed on developing professionals who are able to transfer management concepts into practical application. A wide variety of activities are used to support learning, including:
* Interactive lectures
* Video and written case studies
* Individual and group exercises, both face-to-face and online
* Presentations by visiting experts
* Engagement with a range of professional and academic materials
* Management skills sessions including presentations, board room discussions and simulations
Once qualified, you will have developed the confidence and ability to apply your highly relevant knowledge and skills to meet various managerial challenges within the workplace. You will also have interacted and worked alongside people from a diverse range of backgrounds including experienced industry professionals all within a business-orientated environment.
