About this course

The focus of this course will be on the promotion of strong professional values, holistic individualised care provision and the ability to liaise effectively with other members of the multi-disciplinary team. Its aim is to promote community health and well-being and it will have a strong focus on individual patient needs as well as that of the community. Skills gained will relate to the promotion of the self-care agenda and will focus on early intervention in an attempt to prevent unnecessary ill health, condition deterioration and avoid hospital admission.

The curriculum is designed to enable you to construct your learning journey in accordance with your current job role and/or to meet the needs of future roles. There are three taught compulsory modules across three semesters which are considered to be the foundational content for the course and enable you to build towards your Dissertation. There are a further six optional taught modules which look specifically at key clinical issues within practice. You will be encouraged to select the most appropriate modules for your current employment role, looking to take 60 credits in total across the optional modules.

The knowledge and skills gained during the study of this course will support your growth and development within your specific field of clinical practice. In addition, many elements of the course are contextually transferable and the acquisition of these skills will prepare you for advanced clinical and leadership roles, especially those that reflect the current Health Education England ACP Framework.

You will have an honours degree, normally at a 2:2 (or equivalent level qualification) or will be working at an equivalent level in your clinical practice. You will also need to hold a professional registration with an appropriate professional regulatory body.

You will also be required to evidence that you are employed in a relevant role for a minimum of 300 hour whilst studying.
