This four year undergraduate master’s programme provides you with a broad education in the core areas of forensic science and investigation together with an in-depth theoretical and practical understanding of those analytical techniques of particular importance, not only to the analysis of forensic evidence, but also to industry in general

Course programme


Your studies will focus on key topics in forensic chemistry, analytical science, forensic biology and criminalistic science
This is complemented by study of the overarching forensic process, from the crime scene to the court which includes additional emphasis on professional practice and an understanding of the roles of the crime scene investigator and the forensic scientist as an expert witness in the court
Throughout your studies you will gain a wide variety of skills that will enable you to work independently
In addition to the laboratory skills you will develop as part of the programme, you will also gain many transferable skills that are valued by employers including team working, communication and problem-solving skills
Our hands-on teaching approach, coupled with modern laboratories and industry standard equipment means that you will be well placed to enter the workplace at the end of your studies

If you are itching to travel and experience a new culture, we offer the chance to study Forensic Science for a semester abroad at one of our partner universities
As a research-led institution we have a strong research culture with many contacts with external organisations that are used to enhance our student experience
Previously students have undertaken educational trips to the world renowned ‘body farm’ at the University of Tennessee
