Overview At a glance This qualification offers entry level training for sampling and measurement skills applied across a range of industries Application Mode Distance Courses/Units Eight (8) units must be successfully completed - four (4) core units and four (4) elective units. Career Opportunities Employment outcomes from this qualification include samplers and testers, production personnel, plant operators, production operators, field assistants and sample couriers. Entry Requirements There are no entry requirements. This course is available to students who wish to study externally however they should be working in a laboratory or must attend practical blocks at the Campus. If working in a laboratory, the scope of the work needs to be assessed in relation to program requirements. For those not working in a laboratory already, the course also runs on campus. Students can undertake some units externally and attend practical blocks. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Is what I already know taken into account? Yes. Offerings VET in SCHOOLS (VETiS) - Mackay Distance
This course is available ONLINE as part of the VET in Schools Program through Mackay City Campus.
Students who choose to complete the course externally should be working in a laboratory or must attend the practical blocks at the end of each term at CQUniversity Mackay Ooralea campus to complete the practical component of the course.

Distance students require self-motivation and must have 4-6 hours per week available for study for each unit. Because this course is self-paced students need reasonably good literacy skills to readily and follow text books. Basic numeracy skills are also required.
