Are you unsure which trade you wish to learn or do you wish to work as a general building operative?
The Multi-Skill Trades Diploma Level 1 is a one year programme aimed at learners who wish to enter the construction industry but are unsure about which occupation to choose, or for those wishing to work in maintenance or as a general building operative. You will gain experience of many different skills in various occupations including carpentry and joinery, bricklaying, plastering and painting and decorating. You will then have the opportunity to progress on to another full-time programme in your chosen field of trade.
This is predominantly a practical based programme but there will be some classroom teaching. You will develop a portfolio showing practical skills in the various occupations to achieve a minimum of 37 credits required to complete this diploma. You will also engage in GEM and GAP activities to develop your English, maths and employability skills. A work skills and industrial familiarisation activity will also be undertaken during the year.
To achieve the Level 1 Diploma in Construction Skills (6219-07), learners must achieve a minimum of 37 credits, 3 credits from the mandatory unit and a minimum of 34 credits from the optional units, of which 18 credits must come units 102-137.
