Course Overview

BA (Hons) Multi-media Journalism students have been named the Best Performing Course of its kind in the country by the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ).

BA (Hons) Multi-media Journalism at Bournemouth University was the first journalism course in the UK to be accredited by the three main professional bodies.

This course combines multi-disciplinary training in TV, radio, newspaper, magazine, and online journalism. These creative areas are enhanced by the traditional benefits of an academic education. The programme has close contact with leading journalists, editors, and professional training bodies. Staff teaching practical journalism units are all experienced print and broadcast journalists.

Practical work is project-based with students writing newspaper and magazine copy and producing radio and television bulletins and packages to industry standards and deadlines. A professional working environment is simulated in dedicated newsrooms and digitally equipped studios. Visiting fellows include investigative journalist Duncan Campbell and the first woman to edit a national newspaper - Eve Pollard.
