Music for All (Enjoy Classical)

This course aims to introduce students to the wonders of classical music, through a study of the lives and works of the great composers. A range of repertoire will be focussed upon, including:  symphonies and concertos to piano music, choral works and operas. Each week, one ‘main piece’ will be explored, with various samples of other works, as well as building up a view of the sociopolitical background to the music. Students are encouraged to do some background listening and reading outside of class time. Local classical concerts are also discussed in class, and learners are encouraged to attend some of these events if possible.
