The two year programme of study in Company 2 aims to provide you with the skills needed to succeed in the music industry or progress to Higher Education. You will become part of a performance company, mirroring current industry practice and producing fully mounted gigs and productions here at the Studios and at other venues in the South West.

Course programme

Successful interview, plus: • an audition • 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including English Language or equivalent, or a BTEC First Diploma, or other related level 2 qualification at Merit or higher • ability to play an instrument or sing • demonstration of an interest in the Performing Arts • prepared to work hard if you wish to progress to the next level of Company • related work experience or production experience in or out of school. Course Content In phases 1 and 2 you will study, rehearse and perform music in a range of styles from pop to jazz. You will also develop your theoretical skills, use computer software to compose and study both music history and the music business. There are extensive opportunities to develop solo and ensemble performance skills as part of the course, including performances on the campus and gigs in the locality. The College has a wide range of dedicated facilities including a 250 seat theatre, 6 ensemble rehearsal rooms, 3 dedicated computer suites and multi-track recording facilities. By the end of phase 3, you will have developed the skills necessary to succeed as a professional in the music industry. Achievement of the qualification with suitable grades will enable progression to Higher Education or to employment/self-employment within the industry. Company 3 and the Level 5 HND in Popular Music provides a natural progression for our students. Progression An Extended Diploma is the vocational equivalent of three A Levels, and is widely accepted as an entry requirement onto degree or HND courses, or in conjunction with a strong practical ability (instrumental or voice) for Music Colleges. Fees • If you are aged 16-18 as of 31st August on the year of enrolment - no course fee. • If you are over 19 as of 31st August and enrolling on a full-time programme of study a tuition fee will be applicable in most cases, please contact us for full information.
