2. Course description Summary: A dynamic and practical music course designed to prepare you for entry into Higher Education or work within the music industry. Course description: The Level 3 Music Diploma at City College Norwich has recently included these units: - Performance - Improvisation - Songwriting - Composing - History of popular music - Music technology and recording techniques - Sequencing - Marketing and promotion - Concert production and Staging - Sound and music for film - Working and developing as a musical ensemble - The sound and music industry - Music and society - Music theory and harmony - Music in the community - Listening skills for music technologists - Aural perception skills You will take part in practical sessions in our new purpose built Creative Arts Building, where each room has a full drum kit, two guitar amps, bass and PA. You will use industry standard Apple Mac computers running Logic Pro X for recording, sequencing/music production in our well equipped recording studio and Music Tech suite. You will have the opportunity to gain all the skills you need to progress on to higher education and beyond. As soon as you join the team you can expect to be treated as a performing musician. You will have your musical horizons challenged, and will need to be eager to progress with your playing, your understanding of music theory, and your willingness to understand the nature of the music business. 3. Entry requirements Entry requirements: Applicants should have five GCSEs at grade A*-C , including English and Maths, or the Level 2 Diploma in Music, or equivalent. Also, applicants must demonstrate a reasonable degree of musical literacy, equivalent to ABRSM or LLCM Grade IV Theory and performance and/or GCSE Music at grade A*-C.
