Course programme

Throughout the course you will explore a range of topics such as commercial music creation, the entrepreneurial mindset, and research and intelligence in the performance industries. In the first year, you will undertake a performance-based project that could involve either solo, duo or band gigs. In the second year, you will complete a teaching based project and develop skills in how to start your own business with confidence and focus. You will also examine key issues surrounding stage management and production design.

As the course is professionally focused, there is less emphasis on traditional teaching methods such as lectures and tutorials. Instead, you will learn by participating in ensemble rehearsals, in-class demonstrations, practical hands-on application, listening, analysis, seminars/workshops, notation, independent learning and practice, out-of-class group rehearsals, field visits, peer critique, discussion forums, touring practice, and engagement with practitioners within the workplace.
