Course programme

This practical and theoretical course is based on a 360-degree model of the music industry. It will give you the opportunity to develop as a general music practitioner as well as gaining an insight into how the music industry operates.

We have industry-standard rehearsal and production facilities to help prepare you for ensemble musicianship and music production.

You will perform in a variety of popular and contemporary genres, both at the College and external venues.

You will learn composition and song-writing techniques, develop production and music theory skills, and gain an understanding of the importance music plays within business and our society.

  • 4 GCSEs at Grade A*-C, including English Language, or
  • BTEC Level 2 Diploma with Merit or Distinction and functional skills at Level 2
  • For international students, equivalent overseas qualifications will be considered, and you will need IELTS 5.5 (with a minimum of 5.0 in each skill), or equivalent.
  • You will have an audition on your main study (instrument or voice). During this audition you will also complete an aural and comprehension test.

You will be assessed continually through practical project work, coursework, written assignments, portfolio work and giving presentations. Practical assessments will include public performances.
