WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
As a society we are becoming more aware of the need to take better care of our appearance. As a result there is a demand for professional nail technicians. Nail technicians are concerned with improving the physical appearance of clients hands including the care and maintenance of the natural nail.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
A high standard of learning will be achieved with regard to:
HOW WILL I LEARN?
This course is designed in a modular format, incorporating theoretical and practical information.
Your knowledge and skills are assessed throughout the course, a portfolio summary evidence of theory work undertaken will be produced. There will be separate independent assessment papers and practical assessments (models will be required), where we will ensure you have gained the necessary knowledge and skills. The course requires you to spend a considerable amount of time on home study and practising the nail techniques taught each week. You will be required to provide case study clients to gain the necessary skills and demonstrate your practical applications.
What could this course lead to?
A career as a highly popular nail technician in various areas such as: nail bars, hairdressers, self-employment, competition work, airports, cruise ships, health farms, television and theatre work.
Additional Information
This course uses chemicals which are odorous and produce vapours so it is advised that people who suffer from allergies, skin problems or breathing difficulties such as asthma etc, should consult their own G.P. before embarking upon this course.
This is a 36 week part time course for three hours per week, a high level of attendance is required to successfully complete the course

- Health and safety procedures
- Client consultation / reception procedures
- Natural nail treatment
- Cuticle treatments
- Hand massage
- Application of polish
- Recognition of nail and skin diseases and their treatments
- Chemical breakdown of nail enhancements
- Correct application and removal of fibreglass/silk overlays, acrylic liquid and powder
- Correct application of tip extensions
- Maintenance of nail enhancements
- Aftercare requirements
