Level Three This course has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in applying and maintaining nail enhancements using a liquid and powder system. We'll teach you the skills needed to master airbrush design for nails, using electrical files and the application and design of nail art. As well as learning the technical skills needed for a career in nail art, you'll learn how to promote products and services to salon clients and gain a sound knowledge of health and safety practice in the salon environment.

Course programme

On successful completion you may progress to employment within the nail art or beauty industry. Alternatively, you may wish to move on to an Apprenticeship in nail services.


This course includes the following subjects:

  • applying and maintaining nail enhancements
  • client care and communication in beauty-related industries
  • monitoring and maintaining health and safety practice in the salon
  • airbrush design for nails
  • enhancing nails using electric files
  • designing and applying nail art
  • promoting and selling products and services to clients
  • contributing to the effective running of a business
  • working with colleagues in beauty-related industries.

Your individualised study programme will be made up of the following four areas:

  • the qualification you are studying
  • English and maths
  • work experience
  • other activities to develop your personal skills e.g. preparing you for employment, training or higher/further education.
