When it comes to microelectronic components, computer chips, data storage, micro-sensors, and many other innovative applications, small structures have a huge impact. The Master’s degree program in NanoSciences & Technology focuses on nanostructures and their basic physical and chemical properties, providing significant insight into engineered methods in production, research, and practical applications. The Master’s degree program is an extension of the JKU’s Bachelor’s degree program in Technical Physics, allowing students to work in a state-of-the-art research environment to conduct nano-research on cutting-edge topics. Program graduates are interdisciplinary specialists and highly qualified to be at the forefront of research, conducting advanced R&D in academia and for industrial companies.

About this course
The Master’s degree program in Nanosciences and Technology aims to provide students with the skill sets and abilities necessary to independently solve problems. Be it in base-knowledge or applied research, students apply developed methods in nanosciences to business solutions, as an entrepreneur, or as an independent business owner. Graduates of the program are able to comprehensibly explain scientific findings and apply multidisciplinary research approaches that serve to benefit and better society. Graduates are also in the position to follow content-based, methodological developments in the field and provide expert advice about their use. The Master’s thesis gives you an opportunity to learn more about, address and solve current problems impacting today’s research and industrial development. Students can also develop experimental and/or theoretical work programs.
BA Physics or an undergraduate degree program equivalent in content and scope.
