About this course
Applicants should have three Standard Grades at level 2 or above. All applicants will attend an information/interview session.

Course Aims:
Students are introduced to a wide range of social science subjects including history, psychology, politics and sociology. The course will develop study, analytical, writing and research skills with a view to progress to the HNC/D Social Sciences course, other studies or employment.
Course Content:
Psychology. Sociology. History. Politics. Communication. Literature 1.
Progression Opportunities:
Students can progress to HNC or HND Social Sciences, for which entry is dependent on successful completion of the NC Higher course and a successful interview.
Career Potential:
Students with qualifications in social sciences subjects can progress onto a range of careers including: teaching, lecturing, social work, administration, the media, research, local government, human resource management, careers advice and librarianship.
Course Assessment:
The course is assessed by a range of unit assessments including closed-book examinations, projects, reports and essays.
