No formal entry requirements. Selection for the programme is by interview but prospective students should have a passion to be a performer and should have proven musical/technical ability on one of the instruments from the above list.

Course Aims:
This course includes a wide range of musical and music-related activities such as music theory, instrumental skills, group work, promotion and audio recording and provides a practical introduction to the performance sector of the contemporary music industry. Expert tuition is available for drums, bass, guitar, keyboards and vocals. Other first instrument studies may be considered subject to numbers.
Course Content:
Solo Instrument Tuition, Group Work, Music Theory, Promotion, Recording Techniques, Song Writing, Music Sequencing, Music Analysis.
Progression Opportunities:
Successful completion of the NC will allow entry to the HNC/D Music course. Entry to other HNC/Ds within the school will be subject to interview.
Career Potential:
Successful completion of the NC will act as an excellent introduction to a career in music performance. In most cases, for industry level skills it is recommended that candidates will enrol on the HN level courses.
Course Assessment:
Assessment is on a continuous basis where each module is broken down into separate performance criteria. The main emphasis of the course is on practical assessment however certain modules are in the form of project/research and are assessed through submitted written work.
