About this course
Entry requirements: Applicants require a minimum of three GCSE at 2-3 grade or above plus a good reference; one from school and one from a person other than a family member are also required. Applicants must be able to demonstrate the potential to act independently and safely; therefore all candidates must be interviewed, supply references and receive a satisfactory DBS (Disclosure and Barring service check.)

Overview of the course:
This course is designed to stimulate interest and encourage an understanding of the skills required to work in a range of care settings with children and Young people. Learners will gain an understanding of care values and the range of job roles available in each
sector. Learners will also have the opportunity to choose and access one care sector placement for work experience.
Topics:
You will cover a range of topics in both mandatory and optional units some of which include, Principles and Values of the Care Sector, Equality and Inclusion, Communication, Human Growth and Development and Healthy Eating.
Additional information
On successful completion of the course you may progress from the level 1 qualification to Cache level 2 Certificate in an introduction to Early Years Care and Education if you choose to explore a role in childcare. Or you may choose Cache level 2 certificate in Preparing to work in Adult Social care if you are interested in working within the care sector.
