"The gravedigger or gravedigger is the person who takes care of all those practices to be dealt with when there is a death. His duties are varied: he can take care of the dressing procedures of the deceased, of the transport (the funeral bearer), of the burial, or possibly of the cremation, etc. In some funeral homes, the undertaker is often also involved in the sale of mortuary furnishings and the posting of funeral posters. It is an activity that requires particular technical training but, above all, moral, this is, in fact, a sine qua non for being able to relate correctly with the body as well as, obviously, with those who experience the loss of their own expensive. To acquire the right technical and approach skills it is necessary to take part in a necroforo course with final exam and qualification. Most of the time they are courses of varying duration which can last from a couple of days to several weeks. Once the qualification has been obtained, the job search can move on two fronts: the private sector, by applying directly to the funeral agencies, or the public sector, by participating in calls for bids for necrofores issued by the Municipalities. Soft skills are fundamental for an optimal performance of the job. The necrophore must be courteous and must know how to keep a low profile but, at the same time, it is not a task recommended for particularly empathic subjects who could get carried away by strong moments of emotion and by the almost daily sight of the deceased. those who want to undertake this professional path are aware of the importance of their role. In fact, the funeral directors are also fundamental for the construction of the image of the company itself, being among the first figures that the bereaved family member meets. The watchword is ""respect"": for the deceased, for the pain of their loved ones and for the privacy that these delicate moments impose, fundamental elements especially in the realities of small urban centers.
