The neuropathologist is the doctor specializing in neuropathology, that is the branch of neurology that experimentally studies the pathology of the nervous organs and the nervous system. By nervous system we mean a morpho-functional and structural unit characterized by a highly specialized biological tissue in receiving, transmitting, controlling and processing the internal and external stimuli of the body, by means of bioelectric signals in metazoans, ultimately allowing an organism living to relate to their environment; the nervous system is the basis of the muscular, sensory, psychic and intellectual functions of animals, including human beings: examples of these functions are breathing, locomotion, sight, pain, memory, knowledge and consciousness.
