Requirements for graduation in the College of Arts and Sciences include:
The College of Arts and Science requires proficiency in a foreign language through the intermediate (2220 or equivalent) level or sign language through the advanced (2614 or equivalent) level.

Admission to the Upper-Division Major, Grades and Continuation Requirements:
To be admitted, students must complete at least 52 hours of credit with an adjusted GPA of 2.00 on FSU coursework, with at least half the required hours in General Education, including freshman English and mathematics, or an AA degree.

All State Common Program Prerequisites listed as Term 1-4 Milestones must be completed with a “C” range (C minus, C, or C+) grade or better. Students earning less than the necessary grade in any of these courses will be required to retake those courses until the standard is met. No geology course with a grade of C minus or collateral course with a grade below C minus will apply toward the major.

A student who has accumulated more than five unsatisfactory grades in mathematics, natural science, and statistics courses taken for college credit after enrolling at FSU, whether repeated or not, (excluding State Common Program Prerequisites listed as Term 1-4 Milestones) will not be allowed into or continuation as a geology major.

The required coursework in math, chemistry, and physics will satisfy the requirement for the minor. However, a student may select another minor in consultation with an advisor.

Students in this major may take CGS 2060 (3) , GIS 4043 (3) , or GLY 4751C (3) to meet this requirement.

Oral Communication Competency: (0-3 hours)
Students must demonstrate the ability to orally transmit ideas and information clearly. This requirement may be met through with an approved college-level course.
