Neurosurgery is the branch of medicine that deals with the surgical treatment of problems involving the brain, spine, peripheral nerves and arteries in the neck. The neurosurgeon is a doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of problems affecting the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system. There are different types of surgical approaches carried out by the neurosurgeon and concern the following areas: neuroplastic pathologies, vascular pathology, spinal column pathology, pathologies affecting the nerves. Typically, the patient is referred for a neurosurgical visit by other doctors to determine if the neurological problem requires surgery.
