The night porter (Night Auditor in English) is responsible for keeping an accommodation facility operational during the night. He works at the reception of hotels, residences, motels, resorts and B & Bs to ensure the night-time operation of reception activities and to protect guests' rest and tranquility. The main task of the night porter is to ensure the safety of the structure and prevent situations that disturb the guests' night sleep, such as loud noises, screams, loud music. Check the common areas to make sure everything is in order and check the correct functioning of the electrical, heating and safety systems. Another typical task of the night porter is the daily accounting closing: having the responsibility of reception and check-in of the last customers arrived in the evening, closes the accounting for the day, verifying that everything is in order and that there are no errors. It then takes care of various preparatory activities to support the staff active in the very early hours of the morning: for example, it prepares the list of arrivals and departures of the new day, prepares orders for breakfast and special services in the room, manages the times of the alarm clocks of customers. In addition to the surveillance function at night, the night porter is also called to carry out the typical activities of the receptionist, including guarding the concierge and front-office, checking in and checking out of guests, paying for services, the identification control of the customers, the delivery of the keys and the management of reservations. The night porter then provides assistance to customers who request it and manages the most disparate needs, responding to requests that come in person or by phone. In addition, it replaces the hotel management in providing a prompt solution to critical emergency situations. Finally, the concierge is required to compile a report of the significant events that occurred during the night, to inform and update the Hotel
