Northern School of Sound is the first and only Apple Authorised Training Center for Pro Apps in the North East. Housed in a purpose built commercial recording studio in Gateshead, we deliver Apple training and certification in Logic Studio and Final Cut Pro as well as the whole Mac OS X curriculum (in association with AT Computers). We also offer short courses in Ableton Live 8, Propellerheads’ Reason 4 and specialist audio master-classes from noted industry professionals.
A digital artist with twenty years teaching experience, Barbara has been authorised to set up an Apple Training Centre for education in Tanzania, and is an Industry Mentor at Digital City.
The School is owned and managed by Damian Dowling, certified operator Logic Pro 8 level 1 and 2, and certified Trainer, Logic Pro 8. A professional touring musician of twenty years, Damian recently taught sound and recording techniques at Newcastle College over a four year period. Damian is an accomplished teacher, engineer and producer with many years of experience.
John Moores (Apple Master Trainer Mentor Europe, Africa and the Middle East and Apple Distinguished Professional) presided over the official opening of the school, and delivers the Advanced Techniques in Logic Studio (301) course.
Nick is a professional Musician, Composer and Teacher. Since 2002, he has been a student and disciple of the legendary Maestro Ravi Shankar, and also works with his youngest daughter Anoushka Shankar. Nick runs a studio and teaching practice from his home, composing music for film, TV and other media, and collaborating with other artists. He was recently granted a Digital City Fellowship at the Institute of Digital Innovation in Teesside.
