Description

The nursing cadet programme is aimed at individuals who aspire to a career in nursing. It is a two year programme and successful nursing cadets gain a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care. They also gain the Care Certificate.

Course programme

Course Content

This course is for anyone who has already completed the first year 90 credit diploma and wishes to pursue a career in health or social care, for example; nursing, occupational therapy, radiography or midwifery.

The course allows you to study a variety of units, which include:-

  • Health promotion
  • Values in Health and Social Care
  • Caring for Children and Young People
  • Safeguarding adults
  • Vocational Experience including 200 hours placement
  • Physiological disorders
  • Physiology of fluid balance
  • Public Health


Method of Study

This is a class based course where you will attend 2/3 days in college and placement.

Method of Assessment

There are no exams for this course. You will be assessed continually through a range of assessments including: investigations, practical work, reports, presentations, posters and a portfolio.
