Course programme

Within the course there is a degree of flexibility enabling you to tailor your study to meet your own specific career needs. You will be provided with a selection of modules that contribute to a coherent and manageable programme of study whilst you are continuing in your professional role.

With both your current and future career development aims in mind, the course will provide you with the opportunity to explore contemporary issues in healthcare through detailed critical analysis and evaluation of the evidence base for effective nursing and healthcare practice.

You will be able to take either a specialist or a more general route through the course to meet your own learning needs and career aspirations.

Through critical reflection on your own nursing practice you will examine ways in which you can improve practice for those who use healthcare services by increasing your own effectiveness and the effectiveness of those within your sphere of influence.

Practice improvement should be a strong theme throughout the course – your studies will focus on developing the skills you will need to ensure that service users and their carers get the best service and consequently the best health outcomes and health gains.

You will study a total of 60 credits relevant to your personal and professional development. In order to be guided in your choice of modules you will be required to book an academic counselling session with a member of the Continuing Education team.
