Course Aims:
To offer learners the opportunity to progress within Football through developing their understanding of coaching principles as well as the needs of those individuals who they are helping to develop. This will be achieved through studying 5 mandatory units and one additional unit and gaining as much practical experience as possible.

Course Content:
Areas of Study:
Sports Coaching (Football)
Each learner will show competence in the planning and delivery of the following practical topics (as a minimum)
Passing
Ball Control
Running with the ball
Turning with the ball
Dribbling
Shooting
Heading
Goal Keeping
Attacking 1 v 1
Attacking 2 v 2
Defending 1 v 1

Unit D43 - Plan and prepare a series of coaching sessions
Unit D44 - Maintain an environment in which participants can improve their performance
Unit D45 - Coach participants to improve their performance
Unit 416 - Evaluate coaching sessions and develop personal coaching practice
Unit C35 - Deal with accidents and emergencies
Unit C36 - Support the protection of children from abuse (Additional Unit)

Progression:
Guaranteed interview with North West Soccer School & Coaching Development Academy upon completion of qualification. Potential to cross over to BTEC Nationals.

NVQ Level 2 in Sport, Recreation & Allied Occupations: Coaching, Teaching, Instructing in the context of Association Football

Please note that at the start of the course there is a 50 payment to cover the cost of a College T-shirt and any local trips to enhance the delivery of your programme.

Duration:
1 Year available to candidates, however accelerated completion is attainable for more capable learners.

Assessment:

Practical assessments (Observations), Portfolio of Evidence, Projects, Simulation, Underpinning Knowledge Questions, Scenarios.
